Record Store Day is happening on April 23rd! For those in the community who may not know, it is a day for everyone to come together to support independent record stores, both locally and around the world.
STARL has collaborated with the Amoeba Music Hollywood Store to showcase two amazing artists: YAI @yaicecream and Sam Grinberg @samgrinberg. Among their many accomplishments in the art and design world, these artists have designed the official limited edition Record Store Day t-shirts for Amoeba Hollywood. We are excited to now share the expanded and reimagined artwork as limited NFTs with the STARL community!
Together we will be offering the limited NFT art on the STARL Marketplace at a mint cost of 0.08 eth. The sale will last 24 hours or until sold out, with proceeds supporting CARE’s Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Fund, Artists, and Amoeba Music. The proceeds will help reach 4 million with aid and recovery, food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance — and prioritize the needs of women and girls, families, and the elderly.

About The Artists And Their NFTs:
Sam Grinberg
Sam Grinberg is a cartoonist originally from NJ/NYC, now living in LA. He works in animation by day and makes comics, stickers, zines, and band flyers by night. Sam’s NFTs are available in very limited quantities.
YAICECREAM
Yai + icecream = YAICECREAM is a self-taught artist and designer from Madrid, Spain who moved to the US in 2009 and has spent the last 12 years creating a world of cartoons that applies to all mediums; digital, acrylic, spray paint on panels, canvas, and murals, as well as clothing, toys, etc. Her work is presented with vibrant happy colors which are looking to provoke a smile in the viewer.
YAICECREAM’s art has been exhibited and featured worldwide, including at the Phoenix Art Museum, La Tabacalera-Madrid, VICE creatives, VANS, Urban Outfitters, Apple store Santa Monica, Adobe, Amoeba music, Hollywood palladium, etc
She also has participated in several Secret Walls art battles and won second in the 2020 PBR beer can design, as well as partnered with Monster Energy and Metro Phoenix for public transportation regulations in the year 2021. YAI’s NFTs are available in very limited quantities.
YAICECREAM joined us to answer a few questions, introduce herself to the STARL community and talk a little about Art, NFTs, and Record Store Day.
Hello YAI, and thank you for joining us to celebrate Record Store Day 2022 in STARL style.
For those in the community who don’t know, who is Y A I?
A multimedia artist who creates cartoon looking illustrations, murals, paintings etc.
When did you begin making art?
Non formally, I was probably 2, lol. And more professionally little by little since 2010 more or less
What is your favorite part of the creative process?
Just being able to be in my world of fun and positivity and give life to my characters and creations.
What are your opinions on NFT’s from an artist’s view?
Well, I know it’s a crazy subject, but from an artist view, I feel like NFTs are a great opportunity to reach out to a new audience, as well as participate in a new market that’s making a huge amount of impact in our culture and its probably not going anywhere.
The NFT world looks to me like something I don’t want to miss out on and hope to learn as much about it as possible. I love how the possibilities are almost endless.
Do you have any advice for artists looking to get into the NFT space?
Does anybody have any advice for me? Lol I feel like I am no one to give advice in this sense. I have been lucky enough to collaborate in this project and a few other NFT projects but I don’t really know, I guess, just be adventurous and make it awesome!
What does Record Store Day mean to you?
A celebration for such a dope and authentic way to respect music and its magic. And also a way to keep it alive. Listening to records hits way different than just putting on spotify or soundcloud or whatever.
What has it been like to make an NFT with Amoeba Music and STARL?
So super fun, I have loved every moment of creating this piece from initial sketch to finalised image with signature and number.
The team has been so awesome and so helpful in every way allowing me to just do my thing and I am super grateful.
Can you tell us a little about the charity you’re supporting, and why?
We are supporting Care, which is a charity that is helping Ukraine in their horrible situation.
What do you hope the future has in store for Y A I?
Oh my god ,so many things, I have a long list of hopes and dreams and I really hope the future will allow them all to happen. But, yeah, definitely many more projects as awesome as this one. :)
